Jalapeno and Bacon Bites serves: 24
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 13–15 minutes
Total time: 28–30 minutes
You will need
• 1 (8 oz) tube crescent dough sheet
• 8 oz cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
• 1/2 cup bacon pieces
• 2 fresh jalapenos, chopped
• 1 tsp garlic powder
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a mini muffin tin. Chop the jalapenos and also set aside a small amount of cheddar cheese and bacon pieces to save for topping.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, remaining cheddar cheese, bacon pieces, chopped jalapenos, and garlic powder until well combined.
3. Unroll the crescent dough sheet and cut it into 24 small squares, making 6 rows by 4 rows.
Place one square into each mini muffin cup and gently press the dough down and up the sides to create a small bowl.
4. Fill each crescent dough bowl with the cream cheese mixture.
Top each one with a small amount of the reserved cheddar cheese and bacon pieces.
5. Bake for 13–15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden and the filling is hot and melted. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
Tips and tricks!
• Set aside a little cheddar and bacon before mixing the filling so you have enough for the topping.
• Don't overfill the crescent dough cups.
• Serve warm for the best texture.
• Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
Substitutions: Use pepper jack or Monterey Jack cheese instead of cheddar. Pre-cooked bacon pieces can be used for convenience.
Variations: Add extra jalapeno for more heat, or use mild green chiles for a less spicy version.
